agent/resident perspective
"My husband and I moved to South Orange 36 years ago from Brooklyn with our 1-1/2 yr old son. We were immediately attracted to the beautiful architecture of the homes in South Orange. We loved that there was a downtown and a train line to NYC. Coming from Brooklyn, we were looking for a community that had a heterogeneous population. South Orange had an urban/suburban vibe, which was just what we were looking for. We're still living in town and love being a part of the great community. I feel fortunate to live in a place that embraces everyone and offers a small hometown feeling.
As a family, we always enjoyed the great open space that South Orange offers. There are so many parks that we enjoyed with our kids - sledding down Floods Hill, long walks in the South Mountain Reservation with our dog, and watching innumerable amounts of outdoor soccer games and tennis matches. Though our kids are grown with families of their own, we still enjoy having all of those things available to us today.
South Orange has always supported the Arts. We love having SOPAC right in town. We enjoy many of the live musical performances and the movie theater. There are many great restaurants and a gourmet supermarket that we support. In the summer, we enjoy the outdoor concerts that are performed on Floods Hill."
